Painting "The Whirlwind"

"The Whirlwind" - 24 x 36- catalogue #3624 - original no longer available - giclees available

The last Indian Raids of Texas in 1873. A band of forty outlaws, Mexicans, Indians and two to three white men road through South Texas killing all they encountered and stealing saddle horses. When they passed through the Gray Ranch they killed fourteen year old Henry Gray. People would see the dust from far away and think it was a whirlwind. Then, the raiders fell upon them and few made it out alive to tell about it. This painting depicts the events of that day and the cowards who killed Henry Gray. Time has been kind to preserve the words of Henry's father in "The Warning". All these events are factual and a part of Texas' recorded history.
